Application letter: So, everybody deserves a vacation once in a while, right? Let's say you're working a million hours a day and never get any sleep and it's just go-go-go until you feel like you're about to fall over. Pass out, whatever. You're gonna need a break. Everybody has a point they get to when they can't take any more or they're gonna snap, and if that happens? Boom, breakdown.
Being a paladin of Voltron and a defender of the universe means we don't get a lot of downtime. I mean yeah, we might get a few hours to ourselves between bouts of saving one alien race from another alien race, and I won't lie — it feels good to be able to do that for people, to give something they had taken away from them back — but it's hard work. You get worn out past the point of even being able to feel how exhausted you are, but you keep going and going some more because there are always going to be people that need your help.
I think what I'm trying to say here is that … being a defender of the universe is never going to come with sick days or paid time off and it really should, because it can't always be go-go-go until somebody collapses from exhaustion or stress or anything else that leaves you feeling like a dead battery. I know I need some time every once in a while to recharge. And maybe get a nice facial. Or have one of those fancy drinks that come with umbrellas and a crazy straw.
Really, anything that counts as a breather from everyday life in a treat-yourself kind of mindset. We all need that, even if we don't think about it.
